Mobil DTE 832 turbine oil helps U.S. cogeneration facility prevent downtime

Situation

Dynegy Midwest Generation operates two Siemens Westinghouse 501 FD gas turbine units at its Pennsylvania co-generation facility. In an effort to optimize equipment reliability, the company approached ExxonMobil engineers for a lubricant solution capable of enhancing component protection and prolonging performance lifespan.

During a scheduled shutdown, maintenance personnel and ExxonMobil engineers inspected the unit and confirmed that journal bearings have remained clean, while thrust bearings have avoided varnish buildup.
